Sandeep Bhammer
Sandeep has been co-heading Balyasny Asset Management’s (B.A.M.) investment efforts in South-Asia since August 2006, and is currently
based in Mumbai , India . Prior to joining B.A.M., he was a Portfolio Manager at Amaranth Advisors in Singapore . His primary
responsibility there was developing and running the South-Asian/Middle East structured investments’ portfolio. In this capacity,
Sandeep was responsible for investing and monitoring almost USD700 million of Amaranth’s capital in India and Pakistan.
In addition, Sandeep also managed a South-Asian Equities Portfolio (approximately USD50 million) and the resources piece of the
Asia- Pacific Equities Long/Short Portfolio (approximately USD50 million). Before joining Amaranth, Sandeep was a Senior Director
of Asia-Pacific Equities, at Citigroup Global Equities in New York . Prior to Citigroup, Sandeep held senior positions on the Asian
Equities desks at HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. and CLSA (USA) Inc. In this role, he was among the top-rated specialist Asia-Pacific
regional equity salesmen globally for many years in various surveys conducted by Institutional Investor magazine, Asia Money magazine
and Greenwich Associates. He has been quoted extensively as a market expert on the South-Asian region in various publications and
television channels such as CNBC, CNN Fn, NDTV and Grants Interest Rate Observer.
Sandeep also sits on the boards of GEM Distriparks Private Limited (India’s largest container freight station company promoted by the renowned infrapreneur, Mr. Nikhil Gandhi),
Prabhudas Lilladhar Private Limited (one of the largest, private, local Indian investment banking and stock broking firms),
Indiabulls Financial Company Private Limited (IPO finance subsidiary of Indiabulls Financial Services Limited), Intellistay Hotels
Private Limited (an Executive Hotel chain in India), Citixsys Technologies Private Limited (a software products and services company
that provides solutions SAP® Business One) and Cinema Capital (an Indian, SEBI-registered, media fund aimed at financing films and
film projects in Bollywood). Sandeep graduated cum laude from the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management at Boston College, USA with
a BBA in Finance and received an MBA in General Management and Finance with honors from the S.C. Johnson School of Management at
Cornell University, USA. He is currently, a CFA level III candidate and is also a candidate for the Executive Level of the Company
Secretary course offered by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
